The Lamac MPC had its twin extensive training highlighting ICT and Agriculture in the 2nd quarter of this year. One of our Staff in the person of Ms. Merlyn Sotillo attended a five-day training last April in virtual networking sponsored by INWENT from Germany and the AWCF in NATCCO, Project IV, Quezon City. The objective of the training is to enlighten the coop members on product marketing/business networking with the use of a “free and open source software” via internet and in the web site.On the same month, Pompeyo Papellero from the Agri-production Division attended a one-month hands-on training on Artificial Insemination for large ruminants conducted at Ubay Stock Farm in Ubay, Bohol. The participation of Mr. Papellero was facilitated by the National Dairy Authority (NDA) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Unit in Cebu City. Upgrading the existing native stocks and an assured supply of fresh cow’s milk in the locality are the major objectives of the training course. Thus, Lamac MPC were able to purchase seven (7) heads of upgraded heifers from NDA as an initial stocks for the techno-demo project in Lamac Main Office, Lamac, Pinamungajan, Cebu. On the other hand, eleven (11) Managers from the different branches, GM Ellen Limocon and the BOD Chairman, Delfin Tuquib had visited the St. Jude Multi-purpose Cooperative Funeral Care in Lucena City, Quezon Province on April 28. The tour was made possible in coordination with the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) and Funos – Sweden. The group gained some learnings/insights in the establishment and management of a funeral parlor which is a special project of LMPC soon to open in the 3rd District of Cebu Province. |
